This hike is along the Park Loop Road of Acadia National Park, and located right across from Sand Beach. This stunning trail offers breathtaking views, a challenging trail, and a great chance to connect with the outdoors. The trail is also well-marked, allowing hikers to follow the winding paths easily.

Details

Beehive Trail is about 1.40 miles to the top. However, if you are looking for a more casual hike, this may not be your pick! Beehive is a more advanced level with rocky terrain that requires you to use metal bars (in certain areas) to scale up the mountain. Most of the time you are close to the steep edge, so if you are scared of heights, maybe pick a different hike! One of the main features of Beehive is the beautiful views and lookout spots as you climb!

Rewarding

Most hikers report that the second half of the trail can feel intense but rewarding. For those seeking an easier experience, other sections of the trail still offer beautiful scenery. This design allows you to push your limits while enjoying the peace of nature and feeling accomplished by the end!

Popularity

Beehive Trail is one of the most popular trails in Acadia! The best time to go is early in the morning during late spring through early fall, when the weather is clear and the trail is less crowded. Parking is available at the Sand Beach parking lot, which is directly across from the trailhead. Just be sure to arrive early, as spots fill up very quickly!

About Me

I’ve been lucky enough to grow up visiting Bar Harbor, a place that has always felt like a second home to me. My grandfather grew up on Long Pond in Mount Desert, and over the years it’s become a special family spot. I wanted to share some of my favorite places and experiences so you can enjoy Bar Harbor and Acadia the way I’ve loved them for years.
