Cadillac Mountain
Cadillac Mountain is in Acadia National Park and above the Maine coastline. It serves as the highest point on the eastern seaboard and brings visitors from around the globe. Whether you love hiking, photography, or simply soaking in nature, Cadillac Mountain is a perfect destination for this!
Getting to the Summit
Getting to the peak of Cadillac is a journey. You have multiple trails to choose from, but the Cadillac North Ridge Trail is the most popular (4.4 miles round trip). This moderately challenging hike goes through the forests and rocky terrains, with some stunning views as you ascend.
If hiking isn’t your style, the Cadillac Summit Road provides a relaxing drive to the top. It is a paved road, open from late spring to mid-fall, and is ideal for families and visitors with mobility challenges.

The View
When you reach the summit, you'll be greeted by spectacular views. On clear days, you will see the Atlantic Ocean go all the way to the horizon. There are also many surrounding islands, including Mount Desert Island, that make the view even better!
One of the best features of Cadillac Mountain is witnessing the sunrise. In fact, it's the first location in the United States to see the sunrise each day! Arriving early to see the sun rise over the landscape creates a moment you will never forget. The vibrant colors make for a perfect view.
To put this into perspective, more than 200,000 visitors come to Cadillac Mountain each year! Statistics show that popular sunrise viewing times can attract up to 1,000 people on weekends during peak season, so getting there early can make a significant difference!!!
